A story from MS

I am a Ph.D. candidate. Since 2022, contributing to our community by teaching graduate courses and conducting vital research. I've always followed the rules, maintained my F-1 status, and paid my taxes, hoping to build a future here. I applied for permanent residence and work authorization, fully expecting a fair process. However, since the fall of 2025, my applications have been indefinitely paused due to USCIS policy PM-602-0194. This has thrown my life into complete uncertainty. I'm set to complete my Ph.D. in the winter of 2026, but I can't plan for post-graduation employment or OPT. My career is on hold, and even my personal life, including marriage plans with my partner, is in limbo. I've invested years of hard work and dedication, only to face the possibility of being forced to leave despite my contributions. I just want a fair chance to continue my work and life in the state I've come to know as home.
